QUESTION NO. 1 Is it lawful for the City of Carbon Hill to contract with the Town of Kansas to provide police protection and have arrest powers within the Town of Kansas? FACTS, LAW AND ANALYSIS Your question is answered in the negative. This office ruled in an opinion to Honorable Josephine Gullage, City Clerk, Midland City, dated December 7, 1990, A.G. No. 91-00105, that there is no statutory authority for a municipality to contract with another municipality to provide police protection to the municipality.
