Chamblee, Jr.          Municipal Judge, Trussville          5582 Apple Park Drive          Trussville, Alabama 35235          Municipalities - Municipal Courts -Funds - Public Works Law -Jefferson County          Funds designated for the operation of the municipal court in the Municipal Judicial Administrative Fund pursuant to section 12-19-310 of the Code of Alabama may be used to pay for the renovation of the court's administrative offices.          The renovation is subject to the Public Works Law and must be competitively bid if the project cost exceeds $50,000.          Dear Judge Chamblee:          This opinion of the Attorney General is issued in response to your request.          QUESTION ONE          May the Municipal Judicial Administrative Fund, established and maintained pursuant to section 12-19-310 of the Code of Alabama, be utilized to pay for the renovation of the municipal court's administrative offices?          FACTS AND ANALYSIS          The Municipal Judicial Administrative Fund is established pursuant to section 12-19-310 of the Code of Alabama. This section provides that the Municipal Judicial Administrative Fund is to be used for the operation of the municipal court. This section states, in pertinent part, as follows:

(a) In addition to the docket fees now authorized by law, additional docket fees shall be assessed in all circuit, district, and municipal courts as follows:

(2) In criminal cases in the circuit, district, and municipal courts, except juvenile cases and as further provided for traffic cases, an additional docket fee of forty dollars ($40) and in traffic cases, but excluding parking violations, an additional docket fee of twenty-six dollars ($26).

(b)(1) Two dollars ($2) of the traffic docket fee shall be distributed to the Police Officers' Annuity Fund before any
