Request for Proposals for Supplemental Nutrition
Assistance Program Education (SNAP-Ed)
The Kansas Department for Children and Families’ Ec-
onomic and Employment Services announces the release
of a request for proposals to qualified government agen-
cies, public universities and colleges, and private non-
profit organizations including community and faith-
based organizations in Kansas to administer the
SNAP-Ed Program according to the U.S. Department of
Agriculture’s Department of Food Nutrition Services
(FNS) SNAP-Ed Guidance.
Applicants must have a history of providing nutrition
education services that are behaviorally focused, evi-
dence-based nutrition education and obesity prevention
interventions, projects or social marketing campaigns that
are consistent with FNS’ mission and the goal and focus
of SNAP-Ed. Eligible applicants shall be responsible for
providing direct or indirect services that support the im-
plementation of evidence-based strategies that result in
improvements in SNAP-Ed target population reached
statewide. Applicants must have an evaluation plan for
objectives, with specific types of evaluation identified to
reflect the effectiveness of the applicant’s program in
changing the target population’s attitudes, awareness or
behavior. Applicants must have a data collection system
for completion and submission of reports to the U.S. De-
partment of Agriculture.

applicants will be accepted until 2 p.m. (CDT) March 21,
2014. Questions should be emailed to Joy Bodyk, DCF
grant manager, at joy.bodyk@dcf.ks.gov. Answers will be
posted on the aforementioned webpage by March 31,
2014. Proposals must be received not later than 2 p.m.
