D.          Director          Physician Assistant Program          The University of Mississippi Medical Center          2500 North State Street          Jackson, Mississippi 39216          Re: Opinion, Physician Assistant Program           Dear Dr. Lampton:          Attorney General Summer has received your letter of request, and has assigned it to the undersigned for research and reply.          You refer in your letter to the University of Mississippi Medical Center Physician Assistant Program, as to the legal implications and definitions of how these students can relate to physicians in Mississippi and what actual functions they can legally perform under the Physicians' guidance. You state:
“We would appreciate your attention and guidance in this matter in the best interest of the physician assistant students and the citizens of Mississippi.”
         Mississippi has no laws specifically pertaining to licensure or other authorizations for physicians assistants to engage in medical treatment of patients. Therefore, a person would be prohibited from performing any duties restricted to the...
