Dr. D'Acchioli, City of WoonsocketOUR File No.: PR 99-0180 Dear Mr. Prybyla: The investigation into your Access to Public Records Act complaint filed against Dr. Anthony L. D'Acchioli, Superintendent of Woonsocket Schools, is complete. You allege that Dr. D'Acchioli violated R.I. Gen. Laws § 38-2-1 et. seq., the Access to Public Records Act (APRA), by refusing your request for "copies of the two latest consolidated absentee reports for both students and teachers which are already o[n] file." In response to your complaint, we contacted the city solicitor, Richard R. Ackerman, Esquire, who stated that "Dr. D'Acchioli responded to Mr. Prybyla's request by providing him with the general absentee figures for both teachers and students." Mr. Ackerman notes that the student absentee figures were gathered by Dr. D'Acchioli's "secretary calling each of the schools and being told the number of students absent." Furthermore, Mr. Ackerman relates that "[t]he number of teacher absences [were] determined by the number of substitute teachers hired." Dr. D'Acchioli's secretary, Ms. Susan Erickson...
