Constables of the city courts in New Orleans shall be citizens of the state, residents and voters of the city of New Orleans, and before entering upon their duties shall give bond with one or more solvent sureties, in the sum of five thousand dollars, conditioned for the faithful performance of their duties and for the legal adjustment of all claims against them incurred in their official capacity.
