         Mr. Glen Warren          Sheriff of Scott County          Scott County Courthouse          Forest, Mississippi 39074          Dear Mr. Warren:          Attorney General Allain has received your letter of request dated January 16, 1980, and has assigned it to me for research and reply.          You submit the following, to-wit:
“I understand the law to be that a sheriff cannot hire deputies that are related to him within the third degree computed according to the Civil Law - being first cousins or closer. “Before a sheriff in my districts hires a deputy which is his one-half first cousin, being a son of his father's half-sister, I would like an opinion from the Attorney General's Office in this regard.
